Explore the arts with your child

For many of our two- to six-year-olds, the Creativity Club is their first introduction to the arts, especially sculpting, acro-dance, drumming, and Irish Step Dancing. It could be the beginning of a passion for one of those art forms or one of the five others we offer (painting, ballet, singing, modern dance, playing an instrument). Or, it’s just a lot of fun with your child through ten winter Sundays that might otherwise just be cabin-fever time!

The Creativity Club fulfills our three missions: First, we are building your child’s self-confidence, as every artistic effort is greeted with enthusiasm and encouragement by our instructors and teenage coaches. Secondly, because you’ll be experiencing the same wonderful discoveries with them, it will fulfill the next Hot Shots mission: Building strong parental bonds. Then, ending each session with a story time and sending every child home with a bag of five books fulfills the third part of our mission: Building their love of reading.

A 10-week dive into the arts (dance, music, & art)

DANCE (Acro, Ballet, Modern, and Irish Step!)

On four of the ten Sundays, the girls and boys (and their parents and caregivers) will learn four very different styles of dance, even Irish Step Dancing! The dance instructors are from the Pembroke School for the Performing Arts and the Dunleavy Boyle Academy of Irish Dance. It’s all high energy and tons of fun!

ART & SCULPTURE: Painting and sculpting animals

An instructor from the South Shore Arts Center, in Cohasset, who is exquisite at working with kids, will teach us how to sculpt things like polar bears and kitties, complete with a diorama background. For the painting segment, we’ll use black paper and a variety of tricks that will enable very young kids to do very complex paintings!

MUSIC: Singing, playing fun instruments, & drumming

Instructors from the South Shore Connservatory in Hingham and the Jesse Stiglich Music School in Hanover will teach us how to sing and play fun instruments, including a variety of drums. We’ll learn songs and how to move with the music with magic scarves
