When was the last time you drove by a girls youth soccer practice and saw them wearing tutus, boas and tiaras? Or dribbling the ball with their parents in hot pursuit with a pillow for a pillow fight? Or dribbling under a brightly colored parachute, or knocking puppets off sticks?
Never, right?
At Hot Shots, those are everyday sights.

Hot Shots is fun. Tons of fun. But every silly drill reinforces a soccer skill.
The tutus and tiaras? Parents (or aunts, uncles & grandparents) start out dressing up as “Sleeping Beauty”. If the girls pass the ball and it hits the grown-up, the grown-up “falls asleep” and can only be awakened by a kiss or tickle from their little girl. Then they switch and the girls dress up.
The pillow fights? Without pressure, girls will dribble in a straight line. But if their parent is chasing them with a pillow, they’ll learn to cut and turn.
The puppets? Young girls tend to thrown the ball into the ground, but if they’re trying to knock a puppet off a stick, they let go of the ball earlier and get a nice arc.
We have tons of fun, imaginative drills like that.
We also start with a story time, send girls home with four books each week, and build their self-esteem and parental bonds in the process.
